I believe that along with the wonderful parts of parenting, the definition of being a mother has to include: “Someone who gets things done, even if it is impossible”. A mother is the bottom line. She can derive great strength knowing that whatever needs to happen, she will make it happen.
Here are some additions from my friends who are moms: You will have late nights, early mornings, runny noses, always hearing “mommy, mommy, mommy!”
You need to stay calm on the outside when your little one is hurt (so they don’t get more scared) while thinking on the inside thinking, “panic panic!”
A third friend added: “I still remember what you told me- doing the things you didn’t think you could do. I would elaborate to say instinctively and reflexively doing what you didn’t think you could do and being rewarded with joy unlike anything you ever imagined possible.”
